Most singers think they need to push harder, take a bigger breath, or just keep repeating the note until it finally feels easier.
The truth? Strain usually isn’t a strength problem — it’s a coordination problem. When your breath, vocal fold closure, and resonance aren’t working together efficiently, high notes and powerful singing start to feel way harder than they should.
In this 60-minute LIVE online workshop, I’ll show you why strain happens and give you practical tools to start singing with more freedom, control, and confidence — especially through high notes, register changes, and demanding sections of songs.
The focused 60-minute training will be followed by an Extended LIVE Q&A immediately afterward, so you can stick around and ask questions about your own voice.

Learn what’s actually happening when high notes, louder singing, or certain vowels start feeling tight, pushed, or unpredictable. You’ll understand the difference between simply “trying harder” and creating a more efficient vocal setup so you can sing with more freedom instead of more force.

Discover how airflow and vocal fold closure work together — and why too much of either can make singing feel harder than it needs to. You’ll learn how to find a more balanced setup so your voice can stay connected, responsive, and stable throughout your range.

Learn practical ways to move through register changes without feeling like you have to muscle your way through them. We’ll work on the coordination that helps your voice stay smoother and more connected as you move higher.

This is where we bring everything into music. I’ll show you how I use vocal exercises directly over difficult melodies to establish the coordination I want — then bring the lyrics back in without losing that setup. You’ll leave with a process you can use to work through high notes and difficult sections in your own songs.

We’ll spend 60 focused minutes breaking down why strain happens and working through practical tools you can begin applying immediately.
Then I’ll host an Extended LIVE Q&A immediately afterward, where you can stick around, ask questions, and get additional help applying what you’ve learned.

As soon as you secure your spot, you won’t have to wait until the LIVE workshop to start working on your voice.
I’m giving you three training resources designed to help you build the coordination, connection, and control we’ll be talking about during the workshop — and you’ll get instant access to all three as soon as you register.
This is one of my favorite exercises for refining vocal fold closure while keeping the breath controlled and the airflow regulated.
It’s a surprisingly surgical exercise for bringing balance to the voice — especially if you tend to either push too much air or lose connection as you move through your range.
Just press play and follow along with the MP3.
This is a more challenging routine designed to encourage a thin, edgy vocal coordination throughout your entire range.
We’ll use that fry-like quality to help the voice stay connected as you move higher and lower without simply adding more pressure.
This one will stretch you — in a good way.
You’ll also get access to my entire 7-Day Fix the Break Blueprint course.
This training attacks one of the biggest sources of strain at its core: what happens when the voice starts losing coordination through the break between registers.
Over seven days, I’ll walk you through exercises and training designed to help you connect the voice, navigate register changes more efficiently, and build the coordination you need for stronger, freer singing.
You don’t have to wait until September 3.
The moment you secure your spot, you’ll get access to the complete Workshop Prep Pack so you can start training right away and come into the LIVE workshop already familiar with some of the coordinations we’ll be working on.

Hi, I’m Hunter, founder of Voice Box Fitness and vocal coach to more than 7,000 singers who have used my training to build stronger, more confident voices.
Over the years, I’ve worked with singers at all different levels — from people who simply want to feel better about their voice to performers and serious vocalists working through specific challenges with range, power, register transitions, strain, and consistency.
One of the things that shapes the way I coach is a simple idea: your voice is a physical instrument.
Unlike a guitarist or pianist, singers don’t have the luxury of being able to look down and see the instrument they’re learning to play. But when we start understanding how the different parts of the voice coordinate and respond to training, we can become much more intentional about how we develop it.
That’s why I often compare vocal training to going to the gym.
If someone went to the gym every day and only did bicep curls, they might get stronger in one area — but they’d still have some obvious imbalances. The voice works the same way. Simply singing more, pushing through difficult notes, or repeating the same basic warm-up doesn’t necessarily fix the coordination that’s causing strain.
My approach is to use targeted vocal exercises to isolate and train specific coordinations, then bring those pieces back together so the voice can work more efficiently as a whole.
In this workshop, I’m going to show you how to start doing exactly that — so instead of simply working harder at singing, you can begin training your voice with more purpose and build greater freedom, connection, control, and confidence.

Yes. No More Straining When You Sing will be taught LIVE online on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM UK.
The main training will be a focused 60-minute workshop, followed immediately by an Extended LIVE Q&A for anyone who wants to stick around and ask questions.
No problem. Your ticket includes access to the workshop replay, so if you can’t make the live training — or simply want to go back through something again afterward — you’ll still be able to watch it.
Of course, attending live gives you the added benefit of being there for the Extended LIVE Q&A at the end.
The core training is intentionally limited to 60 focused minutes.
I want this to be something you can actually fit into your day without feeling like you’ve signed up for an all-day event.
After the 60-minute workshop, I’ll stay on for an Extended LIVE Q&A immediately afterward. You’re welcome to stick around or head out once the main training is finished.
This workshop is for singers who feel like certain parts of their voice require way more effort than they should.
That might mean struggling with high notes, pushing through your break, losing connection between registers, using too much breath, tightening up when you sing louder, or simply feeling like your voice isn’t responding consistently.
Whether you’re newer to vocal training or you’ve been singing for years, the goal is to help you better understand how your voice is coordinating and what you can do to make singing feel more efficient.
Not at all.
You don’t need to know complicated vocal terminology or already have years of training.
I’ll explain the concepts in a way that makes sense and then connect them to practical exercises you can actually hear, feel, and use.
More experienced singers will still be able to go deeper into the coordination behind what they’re doing.
Yes — and you actually get them before the workshop even begins.
As soon as you secure your seat, you’ll receive immediate access to the No More Straining Workshop Prep Pack, including the Staccato “Ahs” Vocal Workout, the Fry’d Guhs Vocal Workout, and the complete 7-Day Fix the Break Blueprint.
You can begin training with these resources immediately so you’re already working on some of the coordinations we’ll discuss during the workshop.
Yes. Every workshop ticket includes a Personalized Vocal Snapshot. After registering, you’ll be able to submit a short recording of your voice. I’ll personally listen to it and give you concise feedback on the main thing I hear and what I believe you should focus on next.
The complete workshop experience is $97 and includes the LIVE workshop, Extended LIVE Q&A, replay, immediate Workshop Prep Pack, and Personalized Vocal Snapshot.
No. The goal isn’t to hand you another generic list of scales and tell you to practice more.
We’re going to look at why strain happens, how different parts of your voice are coordinating, and how targeted exercises can be used to address specific problems.
Think of it like taking your voice to the gym: instead of training everything randomly, we’ll look at how to isolate the areas that need work and bring the voice back into better balance.
Everything happens online, so you can participate from anywhere in the world.
After registering, you’ll receive the information you need to access your training resources and join the LIVE workshop.

If you’ve been fighting for high notes, pushing through your break, or wondering why your voice feels great one day and difficult the next, this workshop is an opportunity to finally understand what may be happening underneath the surface.
You’ll learn how I think about strain, how I use targeted exercises to bring different parts of the voice back into balance, and how to apply those coordinations to the songs you actually want to sing.
And you don’t have to wait until the workshop to get started.
The moment you secure your seat, you’ll get immediate access to the Workshop Prep Pack so you can begin training your voice before we ever meet live.
Join me LIVE on Thursday, September 3 and start building a voice that feels more connected, controlled, and free.
